Yes, it’s a lyric from a cliche one-hit wonder song from the 90s. But I graduated high school in the 90s, and this quote was what I put in my yearbook write up. And here I am, 25+ years later, and it still rings true. (And I’d argue the song is still pretty catchy.)
Last month, I sold Boondockers Welcome, the company that I’ve spent the last 10+ years building. There was a whirlwind of activity leading up to the closing, and there continues to be a whirlwind now as I spend 6 months helping the acquirer with the transition. So much activity can make it hard to take a moment and step back and absorb the completeness of the actual sale. To some degree, I’m still so involved in so much that it’s hard to believe that anything is really any different, other than having more and different people that I Zoom with. At some point, it will hit me full force, but I’m pretty confident that there will be no regrets.
I’ve learned so much in 10 years. And I have so much more to learn. I hope that I can share much of that learning here with anyone who’s interested in coming along for the journey. I’m looking forward to seeing what this new beginning will hold.
